Brendan Doane is a 2026 Summer Associate for Irwin IP, a part of Miller Johnson. He is currently pursuing his J.D. at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Prior to law school, Brendan earned both a B.S. and a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University.
Prior to attending law school, Brendan earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Michigan State University. While in school he served as an R&D Test Lab Intern, performing device leak testing, developing smoke‑analysis systems, and creating automated robotic and fixture solutions that improved accuracy, efficiency, and cost. He later worked as a Graduate Research Assistant in mechanical engineering and neuroscience, contributing to experimental design, data collection, and technical system development. Brendan also served as an Engineering Intern, conducting extensive implant and instrumentation durability testing, performing detailed geometric tolerance evaluations, and documenting design inputs, risks, and validation evidence to support full design‑control compliance.
